A not-so-obvious special feature

SLIDING WALLET

In the UK it’s possible to enter most national museums and art galleries free of charge under the idea that all people should be able to encounter culture equally. This wasn’t always the case, however; since the 1960s such institutions have bounced back and forth between free and paid numerous times due to government policy. They have been free again since 2001, with some private facilities also operating without entry fees.
These policies opened the doors to galleries and museums for many people, and in doing so played a role in stimulating and growing the UK’s creative industries such as fashion, design and architecture. It has been a decision that both helped preserve time-honoured traditions and techniques while in the same stroke setting the stage for revolutionary creations. Island nations such as Japan and the UK share a similar spirit for ripening culture to produce fresh concepts.

With wallet design there is a feeling that the designs have been taken as far as they can, particularly so with leather models where every brand seems to be using what are generally the same forms. That said, the sliding wallet we have here is a bit of an exception. It has an elaborate structure where the divider in the bill compartment can be slid over to add another card pocket. Though it does have a flap, the overall look isn’t much different than a that of standard bifold wallet. This is just the type of design one would expect from a UK brand known for always coming up with new ideas.
