Minimalism rich with British style
SLIM CARD CASE WITH NOTE
With the march towards a cashless society underway, small wallets are becoming a very common sight. Glenroyal offers many variations of mini-wallets, but this time we’re giving special attention to this slim card case. It has a total of six card pockets: five between both sides and then one in the middle. The pockets are fitted with sheets to prevent electromagnetic interference between cards, making it possible to use transit IC cards worry-free. The centre pocket can also hold bills that have been folded in half, so the case can be used to carry cash, too. While the case doesn’t have a pocket for coins, this minimal design that avoids having a wedge shape is also its greatest feature. Take your pick from two colour variations made with embossed Lakeland bridle or four variations featuring standard bridle leather.
The US is often seen as the homeland of the minimalism trend, but the truth is that the British are minimalist by nature. There is a strong tradition in the UK of purchasing only truly good things and trying to use them with care for as long as possible. This becomes clear from the prevalence of antique markets that can be found nearly any day of the week in London and other cities. Valuing one’s possessions and trying to avoid accumulating excess belongings is the British way.
A clip that holds money used for tips is another common sight in the UK. One can see this in the deft use of a sterling silver money clip by Daniel Craig’s James Bond in the 2006 film Casino Royale. It’s safe to say that minimalism is an integral part of culture in the UK.
